4th of July 2013

This year, to celebrate the 4th, Hiroko and I went for a lovely visit to Mamaroneck to enjoy time with friends, and a delicious and abundant day of food and drink.

We  trained  back south early enough to see the Macy's fireworks from the roof of our Sunnyside apartment building.

Those fireworks are so grand, that though they take place facing New Jersey from New York's West side, we see them from Queens

Pumpkin Festival at All Saints Episcopal

Twice each year, All Saints Episcopal Church of Sunnyside hosts a street fair, once in the Spring (called the Strawberry Fair), and once in the Autumn (called the Pumpkin Festival).

Church members chip in at various stations, and this year I ended up at the grill with Father Jerome, feeding 5,000 despite starting out with just 5 buns and 2 hot dogs.

A couple of the images below are from the little fife and drum corps of Sunnyside

It contains a number of ancient monuments, and, according to tradition, was the seat of the High King of Ireland.

The statue is of Saint Patrick
